Before you can love others, you must receive God's love yourself. Because you cannot give away something you don't have.
I know, God's love for me is unconditional
no strings attached. i will step by step slowly draw closer to Him.
Because i know, no one loves me more than He does.
The entire Gospel is based and embraced by God's love.
In Romans 8:38-39, it tells us that nothing can separate God's love from us.
For i am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
-Romans 8:38-39
But what do we do with that love?
Since God loves us so much, we should give it away!
Not because we only need that love when God gives, or we dont like God's love.
But, in response to receiving His love, we give it away to love other people!
In Matthew 5:43-44, God tells us to love. Even those who persecute us, hate us, our enemies.
And i know this is something i haven't been doing for a long time. I lead my life by the ways of the world, and not by God's ways. Im sorry, Daddy.
You have heard that it as said, "You shall love your neighbour, and hate your enemy." But i tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat & persecute you"
- Matthews 5:43-44
I will learn to love the unlovables because God loves me. I am not worthy of his love, i may be unlovable but God never stops loving me. I know that i am unable to love others, if i dont learn, believe & receive God's love.
We love because He first loved us.
- 1John 4:19
The above verse tells us that we are able to show love to others because God first showed his love to us. We have the ability to love others, because God loves us.
Let me give you an example that i read from somewhere.
Think of your ability to love others like a glass of water. At first, the glass is empty. If you don't have any water in your glass, then you obviously can't give water to anyone else. But when you hold your glass under a faucet and let the water pour out into your glass, it will fill up. Then, once it is full, your glass will overflow, and you can let the water pour out to everyone around you.
If you don't have love in you, you cannot give love to anyone else.
Sacrifice is the true measure of love.
The degree of one's love for someone is measured by the degree of his/her sacrifice for that person.
In John 13:1, Jesus knew that the time had come for Him to leave the world. Thus, he washed his disciples feet - a task usually done by lowliest servants in the past. Jesus was sent by God not to show people how great Jesus is, but Jesus came down to earth to serve.
Sacrifice is exactly how we can measure God's love for us.
God demonstrates His love, by sacrificing His son. When we love someone deeply, we will do the most challenging, painful, difficult things for that person and not to anyone else.
Dear all, let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth.
What can you do to show others you are willing to love them and show them true love - Such love requires sacrifice. (:
